When did you join roller derby? 2014

What brought you to Free State? I was looking for a league with a strong family-like atmosphere where I could continue to challenge myself to always play at my highest level while still being able to have a healthy personal life, and FSRD turned out to be a perfect fit.

How did you find Free State? I played against Free State before I joined, and I was always impressed with how much fun the skaters seemed to have. You might even say I was envious. When one of my friends transferred here, I knew it was time.

Which leagues/teams are you affiliated with? (e.g. Suzies, Villains, Team Maryland, DCRG, CCRG, etc)

Are you a member of any committees or have off-skates roles?

As one of the trainers, most of what I do is seen at practice, but we spend a lot of time off skates planning practices and talking about how to support our team development.

Do you have a skating/athletic background? I used to be a yoga instructor. My 20 years of yoga practice really helped me have the body awareness needed to develop a whole new skill like derby.

Likes/dislikes : I like skating, cats, humans, outside time, meditation, writing, taking long baths and silence. I dislike war, bigotry, greed, and Fascism.

What is your Non-Derby-Related job? I run a small IT company.

Pre-Bout ritual: Act like it's a normal day. Hydrate. Play derby.

Signature move: I don't know if it's my signature, but I sure do love some backwards lateral footwork.

Roller Derby hero: My derby wife, Too Fast Tofurious. She makes me want to be a better jammer. She's also super positive and supportive and just a rad person all around.
