As the only women’s, flat-track roller derby league in Montgomery County, MD, Free State Roller Derby (FSRD) is hometown and homegrown. Founded in November 2009, FSRD is 100 percent volunteer-run by a growing group of devoted skaters and Fresh Meat, and is backed by a dedicated crew of referees and non-skating officials (NSOs).

FSRD is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Racheous Indignation

What do you do for FSRD? Skate

Hometown:  Potlatch, ID

When did you start skating: 2018

What do you do in the real world: I manage software implementations in higher ed.

Tell us more about your decision to join roller derby:  I'd wanted to do it forever, and had even gone so far as buying gear, but life kept getting in the way. This year, I just went for it.

What's your favorite derby memory?  During Green Assessment, I was supposed to take a push. I fell and slid. Far. It was my first time falling (def. not my last), and getting that fall out of the way was surprisingly liberating.

What's your secret talent? Folding fitted sheets.

Notable injuries: Tailbone. I bought a special ice pack holster that was essentially a diaper (didn't just wear it at home... I'm a consummate professional).

Likes: Organized spaces. Uncluttered flat surfaces. Dogs (the weirder, the better). Stretchy pants.

Dislikes: Junk drawers. Female characters written by male authors. Injustice. Unforgiving pants.
